Baton Rouge, Louisiana
Baton Rouge, Louisiana, literally means red stick. In 1763, France gave all its territories in North America to Spain and England. Baton Rouge then became a part of the new British colony of West Florida. Louisiana was officially named a state in 1812. Baton Rouge rarely suffers from any large scale natural disasters, such as tornadoes and earthquakes. They do have hurricanes, but none have been a direct hit.
When visiting Baton Rouge, there are many points of interest to take in. There is LSU’s Alex Box Stadium, the Baton Rouge River Center, the Baton Rouge Zoo and Blue Bayou Waterpark. There is the city park golf course, the Independence Park Botanic Gardens, Mall of Louisiana, Mount Hope Plantation, the Old State Capital, and Southern University which is one of the most well known black university.
